About Mujtaba Helping Foundation

I did not set out to build a foundation. I set out to save my son.

Mujtaba was eight years old. He had the kind of energy that filled a room before you even saw him, the sort of child who asked a hundred questions before breakfast and expected an answer to every one. In an ordinary moment, on an ordinary day, an accident took him from us.

No parent is prepared for that phone call. No parent is ever prepared to walk into a hospital hoping, and to walk out with nothing.

What I remember most from those days is not only the grief, it is the helplessness. Standing in corridors, waiting for forms to be signed, watching families around me quietly deciding which treatments they could afford and which they would have to refuse.

I saw people who were not asking for luxury. They were asking for a chance. And too often, that chance came down to how much money they had in their pocket that week.

I made a promise, in the rawest days of losing Mujtaba, that his name would not end with our family’s grief. It would begin something.

So we started small, paying hospital bills for people we had never met, repaying debts for families crushed by a single medical emergency, sitting with strangers in waiting rooms so they did not have to face bad news alone.

We named the effort after my son: the Mujtaba Helping Foundation. Every family we have helped since carries a piece of him forward.

What I Have Learned From the Families We Serve

I have sat with a mother who sold her jewellery for her husband’s surgery, and watched her cry with relief, not grief, when we told her the Health Card would cover what she could not.

I have met young men who had given up on finishing school, and later watched them walk into a classroom with a laptop in hand because someone had removed one financial obstacle from their path.

I have seen elderly people who had stopped visiting doctors altogether, simply because they assumed care was no longer meant for people like them.

These moments have taught me that poverty rarely takes everything from a person all at once. It takes it one impossible choice at a time, this month’s rent, or this month’s medicine. MHF exists to remove that choice, even if only for one family, one health card, one hospital bill at a time.

The Challenges We Have Faced

Building something from nothing is never simple. There have been years when donations barely covered a fraction of what families needed. There have been moments when I have personally covered office costs and staff salaries because the mission could not wait for perfect funding.

Every rupee we have ever spent has had to justify itself against a real, waiting need, and that discipline, however hard, has kept us honest.

Looking Ahead

Today, MHF supports families across seven states, through healthcare, interest-free finance, education, relief and welfare. But the scale of what remains undone is still far larger than what we have achieved.

My vision is simple: a future where no family in our community has to choose between a hospital bill and their next meal, where no child is pulled out of school for lack of fees, and where the dignity of asking for help is met with the dignity of receiving it.

With Gratitude

None of this belongs to me alone. It belongs to every doctor who has offered a discount without being asked twice, every volunteer who has given up a weekend for a health camp, every donor who has trusted us with their Zakat, Sadqa or simple generosity, and every family who has allowed us into their most difficult moments.

You have carried Mujtaba’s name further than I ever could alone, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.
